Avrdude and the chipKIT Platform. The bootloader on the chipKIT is based on the same bootloader that I developed for the mega2560. It uses stk500v2 protocol. I tried to burn bootloader from a New MEGA 2560 R3 and get this error: avrdude: Expected signature for ATmega2560 is 1E 98 01 Double check chip, or use -F to override this check. I tried using ICSP interface.
- I'm trying to locate avrdude on my mac. Being unfamiliar with mac osx, I just don't know where to look for. I have arduino 1.6.5 r5. I'm trying to python to automate.hex file upload, FYI.

- I've done my best searching for an answer to this question: I am using avrdude for Mac using Crosspack. I have added the atmega328 to my config file, and when I ask avrdude what micros it knows, the 328 appears at the top of the list.

Finally, more than 1.5 years after the previous release,
AVRDUDE 5.11 is finally done. This is mostly a bugfix
release, but also includes a few enhancements. The two
most important enhancements are:
Avrdude For Mac
. TPI (i.e. ATtiny4/5/9/10) programming support for bitbang
programmers.
. FTDI MPSSE (FT2232 etc.) bitbang support.
