Bold Font Greyed Out In Outlook

Thank you for replying, MikeW! I actually have not tried the font yet in InDesign, only Powerpoint. It is a font called 'PB Birthday Cake Pop,' which I bought from a seller on a website called TeachersPayTeachers. Now, I am thinking there was never a bold/italic variant of the typeface to begin with, and Powerpoint faked the attributes. Arial Bold is not installed on every system, so a font stack of font-family:Arial Bold, Arial, sans-serif; will skip over Arial Bold and use Arial instead. Even if you download a copy of Arial Bold and send it in as a web font, Outlook doesn't support web fonts.

With microsoft outlook, you click on “new” email, and start composing a new email. You fill in the subject and email recipient.

But when you get to writing the body of the email, you notice that the text formatting buttons are mostly greyed out (eg bold, underline, italics, cut, copy, paste, font size, font color, paragraph justification, bullets and numbering, indenting).
